“Portrait of Klimt’s Portrait”

This piece is inspired by Gustav Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele”. The yellow and the green are transparent and the red is opaque. I wanted to abstract the pattern on Adele’s dress. Through letting my hand do the grid with subtle organic variations, areas of the squares that are closer together create darker shades of the color field and more spaced out areas create highlight areas. By chance, these flow gradually creating a subtle volumetric optical illusion.
